He combines academic rigor, strategic insight, and an ability to communicate complex global issues with clarity and purpose.As a consultant and advisor, Dr. Cárdenas has guided governments, international organizations, and private actors on cross-border legal and policy challenges involving environmental governance, human rights, investment, and institutional reform. His work integrates law, diplomacy, and international cooperation to design frameworks that advance global justice and sustainable development.As a writer and public intellectual, he explores how law and global policy shape the future of humanity and the planet. His essays, columns, and books — including Standing for Nature (Island Press, 2025) and Sustainability and Law (Tirant lo Blanch/Javeriana, 2025) — blend deep scholarship with accessible and forward-thinking ideas.As a professor of international law at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, he directs the Center for Law and Sustainability Studies and the Economic Law Research Group. His research and teaching connect legal analysis with the study of global governance and international relations.Dr. Cárdenas has served as an Expert Witness before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, International Legal Advisor to Colombia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Legal Intern at the International Criminal Court. These experiences ground his academic leadership in real-world impact and global engagement.He holds a Ph.D. in Legal Sciences (Summa Cum Laude) from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and The University of Manchester, an LL.M. in Public International Law from Leiden University, and a Law Degree with Honors from Universidad Nacional de Colombia.Through law, diplomacy, and writing, Dr. Cárdenas helps institutions, leaders, and audiences understand and shape the evolving architecture of global order.
